When it comes to casino operation, people often associate it with jackpots and generous payouts to the players participating in it. There is another way in which the gaming locations support their host communities and this is through gaming revenue allocations. Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation recently made its first-quarter payments to all casino host communities across Ontario. Innisfil saw a cheque of CA$2.1 million for the operation of Gateway Casinos Innisfil.
Casino gaming might be associated with problem gambling and consequences from it, but it is also an engine for various projects that bring appositive change to locals. The Town of Innisfil is among the locations benefiting from quarterly payments coming from the provincial lottery corporation. Andrea Khanjin, MPP for Barrie—Innisfil, stated that the financial support is going to be invested in roadwork, community programs, as well as for infrastructural changes.
Innisfil Has Received CA$83M
November 2001 saw the beginning of gaming operation in the region, coming with the regular allocations. Up until this point, they have reached CA$83 million in non-tax gaming revenue, ranking the area among the more popular ones in Ontario. The previous fiscal year saw allocations equating to CA$2.49 billion. Another municipality that benefitted from casino support was Belleville.
This is one of the areas experiencing gaming revenue allocations for a relatively short period of time, but the tally has already reached millions of Canadian dollars. The first quarter of fiscal 2019-2020 equated to CA$794,381, a substantial amount generated by the popular Shorelines Casino Belleville.
Operation onsite between April and June this year and the offerings it had up for grabs were appealing enough for many individuals, which eventually resulted in the hefty paycheck that ended up in the hands of the City of Belleville. Great Canadian Gaming oversees operation of the gaming venue, but it should be taken into account that this quarter also marks a surge.
Starlight Casino Point Edward – New Hotspot
The fourth quarter of fiscal 2018-2019 amounted to some CA$786,261 generated by the casino location in Belleville. The Township of Centre Wellington is another beneficiary of casino non-tax payments taking place on a regular basis. This month confirmed that 2019-2020 Q1 has been a generous one for the community, as the allocation equated to CA$723,900.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation highlighted that this amount has been amassed between April 1 and June 30. However, casino operation has been in progress ever since December 2003 when Elements Casino Grand River welcomed its first casino patrons and changed their lives. This resulted in overall non-tax gaming payments amounting to CA$32 million over the past nearly 16 years.
Another area that is preparing to reinvest a small fortune in its large projects is Point Edward. Gateway Casinos oversees operation of Starlight Casino Point Edward, acquired in 2017. The subsequent renovation and rebranding made the location even more appealing, eventually resulting in the most recent allocation of CA$664,000 for the first quarter. Over the past 19 years, the casino venue has generated some CA$46 million in contributions.
