Ontario Communities Welcome Millions of Canadian Dollars Thanks to OLG’s Q4 2018 Casino Payment

Casino operation is among the main sources of additional financial support for a given community, an opportunity eyed by many towns and cities across Canada. The last days of April are special for many locations, as Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation paid out mandatory gaming revenue allocations for the fourth quarter of 2018 fiscal year to numerous host communities.

Innisfil was among the fortunate ones to receive a hefty cheque of non-tax gaming revenue that reached CA$987,091. The payment comes as a result of the Gateway Casinos Innisfil’s operation over the three months between January 1 and March 31, 2019. This fair share would be utilized for various local projects. It is also the last one for the 2018 fiscal year and it adds up to previous quarterly payments reaching a total of CA$5,537,812 for the city coffers.

Non-Tax Allocations Paid Out

Local gaming operation commenced in 2001 and ever since then, the community has been able to bag a total of CA$81.8 million in casino revenue allocations. The City of Ottawa accepted another big payment. Thanks to regular gaming operation at Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino, the community was able to see a total of CA$1,141,418. This substantial payment is possible as a result of Q4 2018.

The Municipality Contribution Agreement mandates that a portion of the gaming revenue go to the host community. In Ottawa’s case, this equates to some CA$6,122,024 over the past fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. Such a considerable boost is able to make many dreams come true. Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is generous in many ways, but it is also the players that are to be blamed for the cash allocations.

Casino Ajax is among the most popular locations for casino action in the area, but also for more family-friendly entertainment offerings, such as fine dining. The most recent payment to the city coffers reached CA$1,554,955 for the time period between January 1 and March 31. This amount added to the previously amassed casino cash. Ajax saw the first allocation at the beginning of 2006 and since then it has bagged about CA$85 million.

Host Communities Bag Millions of Canadian Dollars

The last days of April are usually highly anticipated since the fiscal year has already come to an end and projections about casino performance could be put to the test. Centre Wellington is another location that saw a generous cash payout from its casino venue. Elements Casino Grand River is responsible for the CA$587,180 payment made recently.

City coffers received the payment offered by Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation which ultimately swelled the 2018 fiscal year payment to CA$2,419,897. If we have to put things into perspective, Centre Wellington features gambling offerings since 2003. Over the past nearly 16 years the city has been able to bag more than CA$31.4 million in non-tax gaming revenue.

Another location benefitting from casino operation is Sault Ste. Marie. The cheque at the end of April amounted to CA$1,493,571 adding to a series of substantial cash allocations. Sault Ste. Marie is among the first communities with operating gambling facility. Ever since 1999 locals have had the chance to try their luck, ultimately guaranteeing nearly CA$30 million to the city coffers.
