Gateway Casinos Determined to Develop in North Bay

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is determined to stick to its previous plans for developing a brand new casino location in North Bay. The casino operator recently confirmed that its determination for developing in the region remains and the CA$31.1-million Cascades Casino North Bay will eventually see the light of day.

However, for the time being, the casino leader has not issued an official timeline for the construction of this casino complex. It could be recalled that earlier plans for action eyes July 2020 for the official opening of this new venue, but the unprecedented situation took its toll on both the province and the casino operator in the spring months. The Pinewood Park Drive construction site remains dormant.

Cascades Casino North Bay

The winter months of this year saw the enclosing of the future casino building, making it possible for workers to work on the interior of the venue despite the harsh weather conditions. May 2019 was the month of the groundbreaking ceremony on site of the future Cascades Casino North Bay.

Projections of this location are that it would guarantee steady employment to about 300 individuals, both in the casino area and the restaurant zones. This will happen once it is up and running, even though the casino operator does not have a particular timeline for the construction. Rob Mitchell, Director of Communications & Public Affairs, recently stated that the Pinewood Park Drive building is still among the plans of the casino operator.

However, the unprecedented situation demanded priorities change over the past half a year and now Gateway Casinos puts more efforts into the reopening process of its casino locations across Canada. This week is a special one for the province of Ontario, as October 8 and October 10 are the days of the two-phase casinos reopening. All venues, except Casino Rama Resort, will be operational by the end of this week.

No Construction Timeline

Mr. Mitchell said that once casinos return to their normal pace of work, an evaluation of the impact of lockdown will have to be made. This will determine the next steps to be made in relation to casino construction across Canada. Earlier this year, staff members were needed for the North Bay casino hotspot. Some of the positions up for grabs were Assistant Casino General Manager, Chef de Partie, Restaurant General Manager, Chef, as well as Sous Chef.

Wages for these positions range between CA$47,000 to CA$79,000. Cascades Casino North Bay is about to span over 37,000 square feet and come with both a gambling area and family-friendly offerings so that a diverse crowd of individuals can enjoy everything it has up for grabs. Some 300 slot machines are expected to bring people closer to grand windfalls and change the lives of many.

In addition to those, there are going to be some 10 table games enhancing the casino experience and taking up a notch the time spend there. The casino floor itself will amount to some 14,100 square feet, offering riveting gaming and entertainment possibilities.
