Charlottetown Driving Park Launches Live Races in a Month

Charlottetown Driving Park at Red Shores is about to see live harness racing return on June 4, if everything goes according to plan. The long-anticipated live races would take place without spectators but players would still be able to engage in the premium harness racing. The live season was supposed to see its official start on May 2 but now it would be slightly postponed.

Harness racing brings many people the thrill of the unknown as well as the live betting opportunity they crave. The management of this racing hotspot has been seeking ways in which it could facilitate live operation while also taking into account the social distancing recommendations protecting spectators’ health. This could happen with racing events without spectators.

Live Racing Returns June 4

Prince Edward Island is ready to see live horse racing return, as many individuals miss the thrill of live events and the betting opportunities coming with them. May 2 was expected to see live harness racing return to Charlottetown Driving Park at Red Shores but the unprecedented situation had to introduce some changes. Social distancing is a practice respected by all Canadian provinces at the moment.

However, some changes are expected to be introduced in the upcoming weeks, as the situation across the province is being reevaluated. Red Shores General Manager David MacKenzie recently made it clear that approval has been given for the first days of June. The Chief Public Health Office gave its nod to the upcoming live racing that would commence with some changes to the live events scheduled.

All harness races supposed to take place in May are about to be added to the altered live schedule that is expected to make the months ahead of January 2021 much more exciting. This would ensure that nothing is missed by the spectators and they have all the chance of winning big. The unprecedented situation around the globe led to the cancelation of many sports tournaments.

Online Wagering Projected

Betting enthusiasts have had their wagering options limited. Live horse racing returning would fill this void with more exciting events they could watch in the comfort of their home. Charlottetown Driving Park is about to deliver a full experience on June 4 and compensate for the missed opportunities. The first day of live events is expected to bring a nearly three-hour broadcast online with hosts Lee Drake and Peter MacPhee.

This broadcast is about to create a feeling of community for everyone involved and encourage them to wager online and support the local horse people. The reopening process is about to feature several phases, the first one being the Charlottetown one. Summerside could be the second one, reopening for live events without spectators in the upcoming months.

It should be taken into account hat the adjacent casino venue will remain closed. For the time being the gatherings of people associated with in-person casino gaming are not recommended and the racetrack management is unable to tell a specific date for brick-and-mortar casino reopening. The harness racehorses continue their training and preparation for the upcoming live races.
