Red Shores Racetracks Take a Look on 2019 Wagering Results

Atlantic Canada witnessed a surge when it comes to its horse racing racetracks operation across 2019, as it was recently revealed. Red Shores Summerside Raceway and Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown issued information on their performance over the past 12 months of operation. There was a 10-percent increase in its wagering revenue generated over the entire year.

The comparison is being made with the year 2018, marking a positive surge in the long run. Harness horse racing has proven to be a widely popular offering in the eastern parts of Canada, as the racetracks have confirmed recently. Over the past year, more individuals have made their way to the two racetracks in Summerside and Charlottetown to place their wagers on live events and enjoy the thrill.

Power 2019 Racing Season

Last year managed to witness some CA$4.28 million in wagers placed on all kinds of wagering opportunities offered by the two locations. The increase, when compared to the previous year, amounts to a total of CA$392,236. Players show their interest in the offering, even though it is not a single-event one, also known as s popular offering in the US.

What boosted the performance of the two racetracks was both the on-track betting, as well as the off-track one. The latter saw a 15-percent jump when compared to the performance in 2018. It should also be taken into account that the past 12 months saw a total of 100 live events taking place at the racetracks, increasing the chances of wagering. Adam Walsh, Racing Experience Managed, made it clear that the year has been a riveting one and the next one should be as well.

Focusing on improving the area of the two racetracks and making them as welcoming as possible has also been among the main goals for the past 12 months of operation. As for the year-on-year increase, it was possible thanks to the diverse harness racing offerings attracting bets. The year 2019 ranked second-best after 1994 which also saw a great wagering performance.

2020 Season About to Commence

The Gold Cup and Saucer program is what attracted quite the crowd ready to place a wager on a live harness racing event. It saw some CA$307,134 in wagers placed. Last year’s Governor’s Plate was also a rather popular offering for the betting enthusiasts of the region. It managed to witness wagers amounting to CA$96,651. It should be taken into account that the 1996 edition of this race witnessed bets reaching CA$99,994.

Now that the racetracks have taken a good look at their performance, it is time for something new to be introduced. The upcoming weeks would see the official start of the winter racing season at Red Shores. Moreover, the month of May is also going to be a riveting one, as Charlottetown would see the start of its own summer racing season.

Prince Edward Island players want to see the legalization of single-event sports wagering that would make the offering even more popular, while also making Canada more competitive to neighboring countries. The US is currently reaping the benefits of in-person and mobile sports wagering on single sports events. This has triggered the conversation in Canada, as lawmakers have expressed their support of the legalized offering.
