Chances Casino Kelowna Paves the Way for Reopening

Chances Casino Kelowna is one of the venues that have experiences lockdown to the fullest, as it suspended its operation back in the spring of 2020. The gambling hall management took the time to revamp the venue and provide individuals with everything needed for safe gambling whenever this is allowed. For the time being, no timeline for reopening has been issued.

British Columbia announced the closing of its brick-and-mortar casino locations in March 2020 and this affected both Gateway Casinos and Entertainment and Great Canadian Gaming Corporation overseeing gambling hotspots within the province. This is the only Canadian province that has not changed its position over the past ten months and these venues have remained closed ever since.

Renovation on Site

Stan Walt, the owner of Chances Casino Kelowna, is the individual that took it upon himself to make good use of the past ten months and improve the popular gambling venue. While the building had to remain closed for business, preparation for its eventual reopening was in full swing over the past ten months.

Mr. Walt wanted to see the gambling venue prepared to welcome gaming patrons as soon as this is possible. This also meant that both patrons and casino staff members had to be protected at all times. The introduction of special health and safety measures on the gambling floor was a mandatory condition for casinos and gambling halls located in the other Canadian provinces. As for British Columbia, the provincial government never issued a timeline for their official reopening in a safe manner.

Chances Casino Kelowna remained closed and no gambling revenue has been generated over the past ten months. Projections soon after the lockdown commenced were that in-person gambling will return to the province in the summer of 2020. Mr. Walt recently pointed out that at this point he is no longer making predictions and he is focused on being completely ready for an eventual reopening.

Future Projections

The past months have seen many changes on the premises of Chances Casino Kelowna, all of which aim to make the location more player-friendly and welcoming. Some of the health measures introduced promote physical distancing on the premise of the gaming venue, making it possible for the players to keep their distance while gambling.

Many of the slot machines available have been reduced from 348 ahead of March to 310 devices as of now. They have been sprinkled across the gaming flow, creating more space between them and making it harder for individuals to gather around them. Each slot machine is placed six feet apart from the others. The venue itself saw a major change, as the wall dividing the bingo area from the gambling one was removed last year.

This resulted in a more spacious gambling venue allowing individuals to move around in a safe manner once in-person gambling is allowed. Bingo gaming is going to be unavailable for the time being, as guaranteeing physical distancing during this gaming activity would be more complicated. Off-track horse racing will also be unavailable. Once the venue reopens, staff members will need about 15 weeks to be trained to operate the table games allowed in February 2020.
