Caesars Windsor Casino Temporary Shut Down

The most recent news coming from Ontario is that the province will be moving into a modified version of Step Two from its Roadmap to Reopen plan. This means, that casinos and restaurants will have further restrictions. In light of the news, Caesars Windsor Casino announced that it will be temporarily suspending its operations.

This is not the first time that the gaming hotspot was required to close down its doors for patrons since the beginning of the unprecedented situation almost two years ago. It first closed down in March 2020, and it was able to reopen in July 2021, as the Province of Ontario then entered Step Three of the reopening plan.

Closing Down on Wednesday

After the announcement of the newest restrictions for casinos and restaurants, Caesars Windsor Casino informed that it will be temporarily closed down operations on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. Then, the gaming property is expected to renew operations on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. During that time, all events such as concerts, marketing programs, and dining reservations will be canceled.

President of the casino, Kevin Laforet, commented on the matter as he said that the health and safety of the company’s employees and guests is the number one priority. He is now looking forward to welcoming back staff and patrons at a time when it is safe to reopen. All guests of the hotel must also depart by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, also the gamin floor will also close by midnight.

Due to the temporary closure, Live to Rock, which was scheduled to be held on January 20, 2022, will be now rescheduled to the summer of this year. Also, Alice Cooper’s concert on January 27, 2022, will be canceled. The casino will provide more details on Live to Rock and the upcoming February Colosseum shows at a later date.

Additionally, the property informs that all patrons who have bought tickets for the live shows can either hold onto their tickets for the new dates or request refunds. In order for guests to make a successful refund of their tickets, they will need to be returned to their original point of purchase. Also, tickets for the canceled shows will be automatically refunded through Ticketmaster or at the point of sale.

Important Contribution

When operational Caesars Windsor Casino has a major impact on the local economy, as Windsor receives quarterly payments from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for the hosting of the venue. Last October, the region received an allocation in the size of CA$1,752,526. Since its opening in 1994, the casino has contributed more than CA$99 million in non-tax gaming revenue to the municipality.

Back in 2019, the Windsor casino and hotel property celebrated the 25th anniversary of its premium operations. According to Mr. Laforet, the venue has been a crucial factor in the region and it has helped develop the local economy and gaming industry. Over the years of operations, the resort has been a hotspot for many Canadian and American guests due to its convenient locations and exceptional amenities.
