Recently the North American gaming industry learned the name of the Best Casino Destination in the 2021 World Casino Awards, and surprisingly the winner is not in Las Vegas. The winner of the prestigious honour is Central New York’s del Lago Resort & Casino. In addition to that, the gaming amenity has also won Best Casino and Best Casino Hotel in the Empire State.
The premium casino property is located in Waterloo, New York, and boasts a world-class gaming floor featuring something for every one of its patrons. The casino is open on Fridays from 8 a.m. to Mondays at 3 a.m., while on the weekdays it operates from 8 a.m. through 3 a.m. And in the 2021 World Casino Awards, its efforts and amenities were once again acknowledged.
Winning Several Honors
At the latest edition of the prestigious 2021 World Casino Awards, del Lago Resort & Casino was recognized for its exceptional amenities and services via several awards. The casino has been awarded the honor of North America’s Best Casino, as well as New York’s Best Casino, and New York’s Best Casino Hotel.
Lance Young, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Waterloo gaming property commented that the management is honored to be acknowledged as the best casino on the continent and in the Empire State. He said that these honors further cement the casino’s position as a premier gaming destination in the state and in the country and that they are the result of the team’s hard work and determination.
In addition to the three honors in the 2021 World Casino Awards, the Central New York resort has also won several awards 2022 Best of Dining and Nightlife Awards. This is organized by Casino Play Magazine, and it is voted by fans. At this year’s edition of the awards, the casino won Best Overall Services, Best Seafood, Best Pizza, and Best Place to People Watch.
It is also worth mentioning that in the 2022 Best of Dining and Nightlife Awards, the Waterloo commercial resort also claimed Best Bar and Bast Casino Cocktail Service. That is not all, as the casino was also selected as the winner of Best Attraction, Best Entertainment Venue, and Best Local Casino awards at the Auburn Citizen’s 2022 Best of the Region awards.
Changing Ownership
In February this year, the Louisville, Ky.-based Churchill Downs Inc. informed the public that it has made a purchase of several casino properties in New York, Virginia, and Iowa. This includes Finger Lakes’ del Lago Resort & Casino in upstate New York State. Previously the commercial casino was owned by the Peninsula Pacific LLC. The company announced that the purchase will not affect employees.
Back in 2019, the Waterloo amenity became the fifth New York casino to launch its own retail sportsbook at its premises. The sportsbook is powered up by DraftKings and since then it has transformed into one of the premium locations for in-person sports wagering in upstate New York. It stretches over 6,000 square feet of space and comes with as many as 23 self-service betting kiosks.
