Regina Man Takes Home Hefty Vault Breaker Jackpot

Just last week, the Province of Saskatchewan learned the name of its newest VLT-minted millionaire. According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, a man from Regina has triggered a hefty jackpot worth just over CA$1 million by playing a Vault Breaker machine. The solid winning dates back to September 8, 2023.

Vault Breaker is a broadly popular VLT offering which features a progressive jackpot, which increases by a small margin for every play on a progressive-enabled game. There is a ‘Minor’ jackpot of a minimum of CA$100, a ‘Major’ with a minimum value of CA$5,000 and a ‘Grand’ with a base value of CA$500,000.

Still in Disbelief

In a press release, the Crown agency revealed that the winner Chris Overholt has now taken home the jackpot worth CA$1,101,590.82. He won the prize by playing on a Vault Breaker machine on September 8, 2023. This happened at the Open Tap Brewing Company and Eatery in Regina while spending time with his father.

The winner said that he could not believe his own eyes when he saw the screen saying Jackpot and that he was in complete disbelief. Mr. Overholt added that the winning felt particularly special as it arrived at a time when he was with his father. Now, with the money, he will take his family on a trip, but also help his dad with the renovations of cupboards at his father’s cabin.

Saskatchewan and its Fair Share of VLT Winners

It is worth mentioning, that Mr. Overholt is not the only Saskatchewanian to win big on the VLT in recent times. Last month, WCLC reported that a man from Shell Lake had taken home over a million Canadian dollars after triggering a jackpot on a Vault Breaker VLT at a local hotel. However, his winning goes back to July 28, 2023.

The winner, Darrell Kreklewich has now taken home a payout of CA$1,080,618.14 by triggering a Vault Breaker jackpot at the Shell Lake Hotel on July 28, 2023. While getting his cheque from the Crown. Mr. Kreklewich said that when he saw the big win, he went completely numb, and could not believe his own eyes.

As per WCLC, the Vault Breaker VLT is placed in 270 communities in the Province of Saskatchewan and has awarded CA$$33,354,933.88 to 35 winners since June 2017. This also includes Jennifer Fafard from Humboldt who won a cool CA$660,501 by playing the VLT in the summer of 2022. She cashed out the prize in July 2022.

The Humboldt resident won the province-wide Grand jackpot by playing Vault Breaker at the Pioneer Hotel on July 3, 2022. And she said that she was in shock and disbelief when the VLT displayed the winning. She shared with the Crown corporation, that she also wants to use a portion of the money to give her children a good start and pay for their university education.
