As you can tell from the names, platforms focus on different casino games. But, what they have in common is the excellent gaming experience they provide. All sites host a wide range of games, including slots, table games, and live dealer titles from the company’s partnerships with top-rated software developers like NetEnt, Yggdrasil, Microgaming, Play’n GO, Evolution, Pragmatic Play, etc.

Aside from running dozens of online casinos, 888 Holdings also owns platforms dedicated to online sports betting, bingo, and poker.

About 888 Holdings Casinos

The company was born under a different name. In 1997, two sets of brothers, all Israeli entrepreneurs, founded a business called Virtual Holdings Limited in the British Virgin Islands. That year, the subsidiary acquired a gaming licence in Antigua, where the entire management was based.

Soon afterwards, the company’s first online platform, Casino-On-Net, was launched. The year 2002 was a big one for 888 Holdings. First, the company created its 888.com brand and launched its first multi-player online poker room, Pacific Poker. Then, it established a London-based marketing office called Virtual Marketing Services Limited.

A year later, the company obtained a licence from Gibraltar, which enticed 888 Holdings to move its offices from Antigua to Gibraltar. In 2005, the enterprise was listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, after which it began operating under the name 888.com.

It’s worth mentioning that 888 Holdings is a founding member of eCOGRA, a company that advocates for consumer protection.

In 2007, 888 Holdings made its first acquisition when it purchased bingo and business assets from Globalcom Limited. This move saw the growth of video slots, blackjack, and poker products.

The launch of 888sport in 2008 meant that the company operated all four gambling verticals — casino, poker, sports, and bingo.

In 2011, the company’s partnership with Caesars Interactive Entertainment went through. It gained approval from the NGCB (Nevada Gaming Control Board), which allowed the company to launch its products once online gambling became legal.

That same year, 888 Holdings went live in Italy, and just a year later, Spain opened its doors and welcomed 888.com to its iGaming market. In 2012, the company extended its partnership with Caesars Interactive Entertainment to power poker brands, including the legendary WSOP.

In 2013, 888 Holdings entered the regulated US market and launched casino and poker products in Delaware and New Jersey, while the 888-powered WSOP platform went live in Nevada.

Itai Frieberger was appointed CEO in 2016, while Brian Mattingley became the non-executive chairman.

When New Jersey legalized online sports betting in 2018, 888 Holdings was among the first operators to enter the newly regulated market.

In 2019, Itai Pazner was appointed CEO of 888 Holdings, while the company continued to expand its offer to the regulated Portuguese and Swedish markets. The following year, 888 signed three multi-year agreements to launch its products in the following US states — Indiana, Colorado, and Iowa.

Throughout the years, 888 Holding won multiple awards, some of which include:

  • eGaming Review Operator Awards 2013 – Casino Operator of the Year, Poker Operator of the Year, and Best Operator of the Year;
  • EGR – Casino Operator of the Year 2019;
  • Gaming Intelligence – Casino Operator of the Year 2020.
