Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is always ready to support a host community of a gambling venue and make sure that various local projects are catered to. The City of Woodstock non-profit organizations bagged substantial cash support recently. The gaming corporation managed to amass some CA$125,000 over the past 12 months of gaming operation at Gateway Casinos Woodstock.
Gambling expansion is among the main selling points of any casino developer, as it aims to expand its footprint and bring premium gaming closer to the people that might be interested in it. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is one of the casino developers that has explored the Canadian provinces and have enhanced their gaming offerings over the past couple of years. Upwards of 24 local organizations are eligible for a fair share of the community grants program Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and the casino operator fuel. Representatives of these local organizations gathered last week for the generous event bringing the cheque for CA$125,000 to the community.
Non-profit organizations, various service clubs, as well as recreation ones, are eligible for a slice of the overall amount that was allocated. They benefit from the gambling activities that have taken place at the slots location at Woodstock Raceway, making it a win-win situation for everyone involved. Mayor Trevor Birtch was also present at the special ceremony, as he received the hefty allocation.
He made it clear that different local projects worthy of support would now feel the financial boost of casino cash. The local organizations willing to see support should file their applications every year, making them eligible for a slice of the overall sum. The year 2020 is about to see this deadline on March 2. This would be the last chance for qualifying for the financial support coming from Gateway Casinos Woodstock.
Community Grants Advisory Committee
Programs have the chance to participate by filing their application until 4:30 p.m. on March 2. Non-profit organizations have a chance to apply on behalf of individuals, as well as teams. The only condition that they have to is related to the very nature of the investment they intend to make. Programs should have a recreational endeavor in their agendas. The City Council should be notified in advance, so a decision is taken in a timely manner.
Members of the Community Grants Advisory Committee are Laurie Fraser, Peter Donahue, Leonard Reeves, Carol Symons, Alysha Faria (Staff Representative), as well as Councillor Connie Lauder (Council Representative). Gateway Casinos & Entertainment received the chance to oversee Gateway Casinos Woodbine back in 2016.
It happened via the acquisition of the Southwest Gaming Bundle. It includes OLG Casino Point Edward, as well as slot locations adjacent to racetracks previously overseen by Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
