Woodbine Ent. to Offer Jackpot Hi-5 on the Weekend

Woodbine Entertainment has some exciting news in store for its horseplayers, as on the weekend its Woodbine Mohawk Park will offer a payout for Jackpot Hi-5. According to the horse racing operators, the mandatory payout for the Standardbred jackpot will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Providing horseplayers with a chance at a hefty CA$187k prize.

For those who are not aware of the Jackpot Hi-5 rules, it requires horsepeople to select the top five finishers in the correct order. However, a horseplayer can only win the entirety of the grand prize if they hold the only winning ticket for the card’s wager. In the event of multiple winning tickets, only half the pool is cash out, with the rest added to the carryover.

Coming Up this Saturday

In its latest press release, Woodbine Entertainment announced that on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at its Woodbine Mohawk Park, it will organize its mandatory payout for the Jackpot Hi-5. Currently, the carryover for the prize is estimated to be CA$187,610.16, which gives horseplayers a good chance to test their knowledge and possibly win a hefty windfall.

Additionally, the horse racing operator commented prior to the weekend, the Jackpot Hi-5 wager will be available on Thursday and Friday’s cards of live racing at the Standardbred track. Horseplayers will be glad to learn that this time the entire carryover will be paid out, as well as newly wagered money in Saturday’s mandatory payout.

In order to enter the race for the jackpot, participants must submit their top 5 finishers for the card and put a wager of a minimum of CA$0.20 and a 15 percent takeout. Meanwhile, entries for the upcoming Saturday card of competitive racing will be available on the operator’s website from the afternoon of Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Post time for the day kicks off at the standard 7 p.m.

Upcoming Stakes Season

This month, Woodbine Entertainment has also provided its full Standardbred stakes season for 2023. It is set to be more than an exciting one, with over CA$15 million in stakes events at the group’s Woodbine Mohawk Park. One of its most anticipated events is the Pepsi North America Cup for three-year-old pacers which will be contested at the track on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Then there is also the Mohawk Million which is slated for Saturday, September 23, 2023. Again, the CA$1-million race for two-year-old trotters will come under the buy-in format with nine slots available for purchase. Each costs CA$100,000, while the tenth and final slot will be decided by the winner of the CA$665,000 Willian Wellwood Memorial. The deadline for purchases is February 15, 2023.

Considering the new stakes calendar, the operator could be set for another record-breaking season just like the one from last year. In 2022, the track generated a record-setting all-sources handle amounting to CA$444 million accumulated across 218 racing cards. There were a total of 2,293 races and which had an average handle of CA$193,707.73 per race.
