This week has been a celebratory one for Resorts World New York City in Queens. The gaming amenity held festivities in order to celebrate one year of premium operations of its Hyatt Regency JFK Airport hotel. And leaders and dignitaries gathered at the grand lobby on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, to celebrate the special occasion.
The Hyatt Regency JFK Airport hotel officially opened its doors last August and the premier hospitality venue touts over 400 residential-inspired guest rooms and first-rate suites. The venue has proved to be quite beneficial to the region as it has brought over 500 stable jobs as well as more revenue to the Queens region since its opening.
The Wednesday Celebrations
Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East, which owns and operates the casino property, commented that the establishment had the honour of welcoming guests from all over the world in the last year. He praised the Hyatt Hotels brand as an amazing partner, who has helped the casino to bring its long-time vision for a hotel to life.
Also at the gathering, councilwoman Joann Ariola, shared that the increased tourism which was brought by the hotel has secured economic growth and provided vital jobs in Queens during some difficult times. According to her, the hotel has transformed Resorts World New York City into an even more desirable location in the borough.
Since its launch in 2011, the Queen’s casino property has brought in more than US$3 billion in funds for the state’s education. Genting Americas East has also invested over US$700 million to bolster the existing Aqueduct grandstand, thus making it a leading entertainment hotspot in the area. And now the casino is complimented by a premium hotel for travelling guests.
State Senator Joseph Addabbo was also present at the celebrations, and he said that the RWNYC continues to deliver on its promise to provide more jobs for Queens residents. He added that the introduction of the hotel, has made the casino an even more formidable economic force and it is a way of introducing more people to his home borough.
Full License Backing
The Senator who is also Chair of the Senate Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee, has also declared his support for the gaming property in its pursuit of a full-scale license. Its expansion into a full-casino would see the addition of live table games, while also providing more jobs for locals and delivering more important revenue to the region.
Supporting Arts Initiatives
At the end of July, RWNYC revealed that it will provide support for numerous arts initiatives, through its corporate philanthropic program, Resorts World Give. Some of the programs that the casino will back include the St. Albans Jazz Festival and the outdoor Summer Café at Roy Wilkins Park coming this month, as well as the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning.
