PlayNow Poker Championship Comes Online

Gambling fans all around the world have been unable to attend land-based casino properties for quite some time now, as the casinos have endured many reopenings and closing downs. That is why this year’s edition of the PlayNow Poker Championship will be held entirely online on PlayNow.com. The exciting tournament will have CA$250,000 in guaranteed prizes up for grabs.

The online platform of PlayNow.com is owned and operated by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation that is responsible for all gambling and lottery regulations in the province. For a year now gambling properties have not been reopened in the province leaving all betting enthusiasts slightly disappointed but there are still online gambling possibilities like the PlayNow Poker Championship.

Schedule and Conditions

Due to the new social distancing protocols and lack of social gatherings this year’s edition of the tournament will be taking place in the online space. This way the event can still occur without putting in danger any of the poker players or the staff. The tournament had online qualifiers back in February this year.

In order for players to participate in the huge prize pool tournament, all they have to do is to register an account on PlayNow.com. Then, players must download the official software which is cost-free from the website, and log in with their account details. And finally, strap in for the exciting tournament of poker games as many other gamblers will be competing against them for the huge prizes.

The tournament has already started on Monday, April 12, 2021, the first event started at 17:30 PT or 19:30 CT, and it had a CA$5,000 prize pool with a CA$1,00 buy-in. Event 2 was on the next day, April 13, 2021. It had a bigger prize pool of CA$15,000 with respectively bigger buy-ins of CA$10,00. Event 3 on Thursday had even bigger guaranteed prizes accumulating to CA$30,000.

And finally, we have the two most anticipated events with a combined total of CA200,000 in prizes for grabs. Event 4 is on April, 17 at 15:00 PT or 17:00 CT, it has a buy-in of CA$100,00 and players will be competing for CA$75,000. Event 5 is on the next day with by far the bigger rewards pool of CA$125,000 and CA$250 buy-ins. This one also starts at 15:00/17:00.

Previous Editions

Prior to the unprecedented situation and when social gatherings were considered as normality, the PlayNow Poker Championship was hosted at Club Regent Casino in 2019. The poker tournament took place in September as players competed against each other for the CA$500,000 in guaranteed prize money. The first event was on Sept. 4 and it had CA$170 + CA$10 entry fee and 200 players capacity

Improving Online Content

As brick-and-mortar casinos remain closed the Crown Corporation responsible for the gambling offerings in the province continued to improve its online offerings in order to keep players entertained. The corporation has implemented old-school bingo games to its platform along with several Easter-themed offerings so can players can enjoy new content during the holidays.
