Saskatchewan’s regulated internet gambling platform went online in November 2022 via the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s PlayNow. And last week, the province’s online portal operated by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority saw the introduction of live table games. This will further enhance the experience for local players as it adds interaction with actual dealers.

It should be mentioned that BCLC’s PlayNow in Saskatchewan is operated by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority via an operating agreement with SaskGaming. Similar to its operations in B.C. and Manitoba, the online gaming platform offers online casino games, sports betting, and live dealer games, which are available through Live Casino in Europe for desktop and mobile devices.
Providing a Wider Gaming Variety
Last week, the new live casino games went online on the province’s iGaming platform, allowing local gamblers to play and enjoy live dealer games. According to the news release, the BCLC is utilizing Evolution’s live games portfolio for the Saskatchewan platform. The new content is described as highly engaging, allowing players to interact with real-time dealers via the internet.
According to the press release from last week, PlayNow is now offering 17 digital table games to its bettors. Some of the titles that are available include some of the industry’s best-selling titles. This includes Auto Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, Baccarat eSqueeze, Dream Wheeler, Infinite Blackjack, Lightning Auto Roulette Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em and more.
In the statement, President and CEO of SIGA, Zane Hansen, commented that the regulator is delighted to further enhance the PlayNow website and the already exceptional gaming catalogue with the addition of the Live Casino vertical. In his words, the new online product will further complement the organization’s existing casino properties for Saskatchewan residents’ enjoyment.
SIGA debuted PlayNow in the Province of Saskatchewan on November 3, 2022, and to this day it is the only regulated online gambling website in the province. Currently, the web portal offers over 500 casino games as well as legal-licensed single-game sports wagering. Mr. Hansen reminded that the platform’s net proceeds are reinvested in the province’s coffers.
Busy First Months
Just at the start of the new year, SIGA provided its first update on the recently introduced online gaming market. SIGA’s Director of iGaming, Mike Bellegarde revealed that in its first two months of online operations, the sector had registered more than 8,000 users. This marked a tremendous start for the province’s new and regulated market.
In addition, according to the regulator, in November, the total betting handle reached approximately CA$12 million. Then handle jumped even higher in December with an even larger one of CA$18.2 million betting volume. Mr. Bellegarde said that the iGaming portal can potentially be one of the largest grossing casinos for the province.
