Great Canadian Gaming Corporation recently issued information that New Brunswick is ready for the official return of in-person casino gaming. New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation made it official that brick-and-mortar casinos are going to be part of the upcoming phase of the business reopening plan of the province. It launches on June 26 and all venues that have prepared in advance could relaunch.
In-person gaming could bring back to its normal pace of work in New Brunswick, as it was recently confirmed. Gambling venues have been included in the upcoming phase of the business reopening plan taking over the province. This would mean that players will soon get the chance to gamble in-person for the first time in months.
Casino New Brunswick
It could be recalled that March 16 saw the official closing of all casinos and gambling halls across New Brunswick, as well as many of the Canadian provinces. The gradual lockdown took a couple of days to be completed, rendering them with online gaming and lottery tickets sell only. The Atlantic province of New Brunswick features three gaming locations that aim to diversify the gaming products all players crave.
Two of them are tribal casino locations, whereas the third one is a commercial casino complex. Eagles Nest is the tribal casino overseen by the Woodstock First Nation, whereas the Grey Rock Casino is the second tribal venue managed by Maliseet First Nation. The only commercial venue located within the province is Casino New Brunswick. It is managed by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, one of the leading casino operators on a national scale.
The commercial venue in question has been included in this next phase of the business reopening plan that is set to commence on June 26. If the venue is ready for operation and it has implemented the respective safety measures and protocols, it could launch in-person gambling as soon as this Friday.
Reopening Soon
Public Health Guidelines have to be respected at all times, is the gaming complex wants to launch operation in a safe way. This includes a reduction of the number of working slot machines on the premises of the casino floor. The casino operator would promote physical distancing by increasing the distance between working slot machines. Moreover, many casino locations have already installed plexiglass shields along with special markings on the floor.
Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is currently working on special measures. It happens in close collaboration with the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation. However, for the time being, no opening date has been issued publicly. Casino gaming is also going to support the provincial coffers, as they are currently experiencing a growing deficit.
Finance Minister Ernie Steeves, stated that deficit projection is now CA$343 million. This estimation is CA$44 million higher than the projections issued back in May. A month ago, the provincial government announced that the lockdown is about to impact the province budget with some CA$299.2 million.
