Great Canadian Gaming Further Shrinks Ontario In-Person Gambling Field

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation remains as flexible as possible during these trying times and this is reflected in its brick-and-mortar operation plans. The Canadian casino leader recently announced the temporary closure of more in-person gambling and horse racing. In-person gambling at Elements Casino Brantford and live horse racing at Flamboro Downs are currently unavailable.

The casino operator is one of the leaders on a national level, a position that calls for professionalism and flexibility. This is true especially during these trying times when the situation is changing on a daily basis. Great Canadian Gaming Corporation works closely with the provincial governments, in order to protect both casino patrons and casino staff from any harm.

More Casino Closures

Ontario is one of the provinces where it has considerable influence and its casino locations have been working on a day-to-day basis over the past couple of months. This was happening despite the limiting regulations, mandating that casinos welcome up to 50 patrons at all times. Now it is time for more changes and closures affecting the gambling field.

December 20 was an important date for the gambling field of Brantford and Hamilton, as it saw the official temporary suspension of in-person activities at the two locations overseen by the casino leader. This happened at 11:59 p.m. EST and for the time being, the casino operator has not issued a timeline for the eventual reopening of the two locations. This means that individuals interested in in-person casino gaming and live harness racing events will have to curb their enthusiasm.

The decision for closing these two locations came after December 18 witnessed the latest announcement coming from the Ontario provincial government. It aimed to minimize the harm for individuals hailing from the region, introducing even more restrictions to the daily operation of many local businesses. Great Canadian Gaming Corporation evaluated the situation and came to the conclusion that continuing its operation with the new conditions would not be viable.

Current Situation

It could be recalled that the last days of September witnessed the return of in-person gambling across some brick-and-mortar locations in Ontario, as this is when the province gave a green light. On the other hand, September 3 witnessed the official return of live harness racing without spectators at Flamboro Downs.

Pari-mutuel wagering popular among the individuals interested in harness racing was also offered to the individuals closely observing everything happening at the racetrack from the comfort of their home. What should be pointed out is that only six of the 26 locations overseen by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation are working as of December 21. Those are Shorelines Casino Thousands Islands, Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs, Shorelines Casino Belleville, as well as Shorelines Casino Peterborough.

December 13 witnessed the temporary suspension of operation at Elements Casino Grand River which was the most recent location to close for business. In Atlantic Canada, Casino New Brunswick works with a 25-percent capacity, while Casino Nova Scotia Halifax and Casino Nova Scotia Sydney are allowed to welcome up to 20-percent of their usual patrons.
