Ontario’s New Regulated Model

Ontario’s launch of its private operator market for online gaming and online sports betting has opened up a new page in Canada’s gambling industry. After a month and a half of operations, CasinoBonusCA published an analysis of the current state of the local gaming sector and how the changes have affected it. The research finds that operators’ net revenue will hit CA$1.8 billion in total.

Despite the large number of operators in the regime, AGCO plans to rule with a strict hand. Recently, the regulator has imposed fines on BetMGM and PointsBet Canada for alleged advertising and inducement breaches. BetMGM got a CA$48,000fine for failing to comply with Standard 2.04 and 2.05. While PointsBet was sanctioned CA$30,000 for breaching Standard 2.05.
