British Columbians Place More than 12,000 Bets on U.S. New President

British Columbia Lottery Corporation made it clear that the U.S. Presidential Election has succeeded in electrifying the local gambling field. Upwards of 12,000 wagers were placed on the presidential candidates this year. They amount to a nearly CA$3 million bet ahead of Election Day and most of the Canadians that have participated bank on President Donald Trump.

The Crown corporation aims to stay competitive and attract individuals with its diverse gambling portfolio both in-person and online. Its PlayNow.com platform is the only regulated online gambling offering within British Columbia and thousands of individuals frequent the gambling hotspot wherever they are. This gives them the freedom to place wagers and win big as a result of that.

2020 U.S. Presidential Election

Most of the individuals that have placed a bet on the U.S. Presidential Election put their money on President Donald Trump. They think that he is going to be reelected on November 3. About 68 percent of the wagers placed had his name on them, totaling upwards of CA$1.4 million. The odds for his win on Election Day are 2.35, according to the Crown corporation.

Regardless of that, British Columbians placed their money on him winning. The Crown corporation has already calculated the potential combined payouts, and they could reach some CA$3.4 million for all Republican supporters in B.C. On the other hand, individuals also supported Joe Biden, the rival for the Presidential spot in the United States. About 1,484 wagers were placed on him winning big on Super Tuesday.

This was a curious turn of events, as British Columbia Lottery Corporation introduced him with 1.58 odds. Canadian placing their wagers online poured some CA$622,000 into him winning the election. That translated to some 29 percent of the overall bets placed. If the Democrats end up winning the United States Presidential Election this year, the combined payout will amount to some CA$1 million.

It could be recalled that last week saw projections regarding the number of players ready to place their bets on the political events happening south of the border. Back then, the estimated number was 10,000 people hailing from the province of British Columbia. This was projected to set a record on the gaming platform of British Columbia, as the event with the highest levels of interest.

Last week saw President Donald Trump attract some 44 percent of the wagers placed at the time, whereas Mr. Biden saw the support of some 27 percent of the bettors. What should be pointed out is that the projections were exceeded this week and this projected number of bettors was surpassed. This makes the 2020 US President Election the single-most popular betting event on the PlayNow gaming platform up until this point.

Back in 2016, the levels of interest were also high, attracting about 7,200 wagers on the Presidential candidates at the time. They amounted to some CA$737,000. It could be recalled that the Crown corporation introduced novelty wagers on the US Election for the very first time back in 2014.
