Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie Racks Up CA$1.5m for the Community

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has many ways in which it supports its host communities one of which is the financial support it is able to guarantee them on a regular basis. Sault Ste. Marie is one of the areas that recently received special treatment in the form of a gaming revenue allocation. CA$1,493,571 is the amount that the Crown corporation recently allocated to the city coffers.

Diverse gaming opportunities are a way for the Crown corporation to continue being relevant and preferred by the players of Ontario. Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie is the preferred gaming location in the region and it is able to welcome a wide number of individuals on a day-to-day basis. Such an active operation is inevitably going to result in improved allocations to the city coffers.

Casino Cash Supports Community

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation recently made the generous move and gave the hefty cheque to the city of Sault Ste. Marie. This happened at the Outstanding Business Achievements Awards happening on an annual basis. The local Chamber of Commerce was able to oversee them once again giving the Crown corporation the chance to make its allocation.

Jake Pastore, Director of Municipal and Community Relations for OLG, was the official presenting the cheque with the generous sum written on it. The CA$1,493,571 in question comes as a result of the gambling operation during fiscal 2018-2019 and covers the 12 months in their entirety. Such support has been ongoing over the past more than two decades. It could be recalled that the gambling venue launched operation in 1999.

More than CA$29 million has been allocated to the Sault Ste. Marie coffers up until now and the investment seems to be continuing with the same reliable speed. Municipal facilities are now set to benefit from the payment and see an improvement, as the host community continues to benefit from casino cash.

Awards See Casino Cheque

Mayor Christian Provenzano also had a thing or two to share in relation to the regular allocations. He pointed out that for years on end, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has been able to bring sustainable support to the community. This is possible thanks to the Community Recognition Program that continues its operation to this day. It powers the operation of charity organizations, various infrastructural improvements, as well as public services.

The event seeing this allocation was also an important one for the community. January 10 saw the deadline for nominations for all categories coming with this special congregation. The Crown corporation is one of the main supporters of the awards show, as it praises local businesses and individuals worthy of recognition. It comes with categories to the likes of Downtown Business of the Year Award, Indigenous Business of the Year Award, and Employer of the Year Award.

The Business of the Year Award and the Community First Award are also categories worth mentioning. The Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie area is about to see long-anticipated development. A vacant patch of land in its vicinity could soon see the development of a non-tourism new project that has yet to be revealed. Back in the fall of 2019, the zone adjacent to Bay Street and St. Mary’s River Drive received more attention in relation to this unspecified project.
