Cascades Casino Delta Construction Begins Soon, Launch Date TBA

This year might be a lucky one for Delta residents, as they are preparing for the official launch of operation of Cascades Casino Delta. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment continues its work on the CA$70-million casino complex, but for the time being no particular opening date has been pinpointed by the casino operator. Previous discussion has highlighted the end of 2020 as a possible launch period.

Casino expansion across British Columbia and Ontario is among the main goals for the casino developer when it comes to short-term operation. This means that the year 2020, 2021, and 2022 are about to see many new casino complexes being built across the provinces. With their help, host communities are about to bag a significant financial boost and focus on larger projects.

Gateway Casinos Discloses Construction Details

Gateway Casinos launches the construction portion of this project in the second half of 2019 after it was able to obtain all needed licenses and permits. The first phase of Cascades Casino Delta is about to be finished, as it includes preparation of the ground where it would soon rise. Back in November 2019, a spokesperson of the casino operator highlighted that real construction is about to commence at the beginning of 2020.

As experience has shown, the casino operator needs about a year to finish a casino complex and it all depends on the general scale of the project. In this sense, projections issued towards the end of 2020 suggest that the new casino would be able to welcome its first casino patrons by New Year’s Eve 2020.

However, for the time being, Gateway Casinos has yet to disclose a particular date for the opening ceremony. The overall process was slowed down by the relatively slow response of the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Delta Mayor George Harvie felt the need to write a letter seeking more information in 2019. The casino complex is about to rise at the junction of highways 17A and 99.

Launch by the End of 2020, Early 2021

It is about to replace the Town and Country Inn with half a century history to its name. Cascades Casino Delta would also offer a hotel building, featuring 116 rooms available for booking, as well as the gambling offerings up for grabs. The casino venue would come with 500 slot machines complemented by as many as 24 table games.

For the family-friendly side of the things, Gateway Casinos would introduce premium Match Eatery and Public House, Atlas Steak + Fish, and The Buffet. The casino operator made it clear that the preparation for construction work has gone smoothly and everything is according to the previously discussed timeline of events. Actual construction is projected to commence in the upcoming weeks, possibly extending launch date to the early 2021.

More information on the project is about to be issued in the foreseeable future. Mayor Harvie wanted to see the casino venue go completely cashless, as to prevent money laundering from happening on its premises. Efforts in this direction wanted to see the casino complex become the first Canadian casino to operate without cash, but instead with special accounts for every casino patron. As of now, no progress has been made.
