The budding sports wagering field of the state has been in a rapid development phase ever since this summer when the first casino venue launched legal sports wagering operation for the public. Locations have been racing to bring the most comprehensive wagering tools closer to their patrons resulting in various partnerships. The tribal casino resort in Akwesasne teamed up with Toronto-based The Stars Group.
IGT PlaySports Kiosks Welcome Patrons
Sports wagering enthusiasts are now able to place their bets at Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort in Akwesasne, the tribal hotspot for all gaming opportunities in the region. IGT PlaySports is now open for individuals of legal age willing to wager on sports events across all major sports leagues and possibly win big. This new addition to the casino venue comes as a result of a Canada-US sports betting collaboration between The Stars Group and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
The Native American tribe overseeing operation at the tribal casino resort wanted to be competitive enough in the landscape of the state sports wagering scene. This means that commercial casino venues and tribal ones should offer fairly similar gaming opportunities, according to the preferences of the majority of their patrons. This August saw the announcement of the partnership between the two leading gaming entities.
A partnership with the leading Canadian iGaming company that has already explored diverse markets around the globe was the golden ticket for Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort. As a result of the collaboration, the North Country Region now has the opportunity to enjoy wagering on sports events in a regulated manner and with all player protections implemented.
IGT Powers More Locations
IGT was another leading player to enter the conversation and introduce its signature sports wagering offerings to the tribal casino operator. This made it possible for tribal venue casino patrons to enjoy something new and trust the established brand with an expanded foothold in the local sports wagering market. This is the third casino location to welcome its premium sportsbook within the borders of New York State.
Those are Resorts World Catskills and Tioga Downs, two commercial casino locations with striving to stay afloat in a cannibalizing field of gaming. Todd Papineau, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort General Manager, expressed his delight with the new technology introduced thanks to the sports wagering leaders. As a result of the collaboration, existing offerings available at Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort have been diversified and enhanced.
The tribal resort worked on the existing Sticks Sports Bar and its expansion facilitating sports wagering earlier this fall. Sports betting offerings spread over 5,200 square feet of space adjacent to the casino floor. This premium sports wagering venue features an HD video wall, in addition to some 25 TV screens offering a constant stream of sports events.
